It's almost the end of December, and we're feeling reflective. This year marks 5 years of cutting and colouring madness in our salon, and we couldn't ask for a better team to bring us into the new year. We always want to celebrate our Stylists and their accomplishments, so here it is. We've had a jam packed year, these are some of our best 2019 bits:
If you follow us on social media, you'll know that a handful of our Stylists are completing Goldwell ColourMastery courses. These courses are held in London and are hosted by the most elite group of Goldwell hair colourists. We're proud to say Lily, Ross, Lauren Browne, Sarah and Tia all passed their colouring courses! Our Style Executive, Georgie, completed all of the courses this year and became our salon's first Goldwell Colour Master.
We're always invested in giving our Stylists extra training. It means we can provide the very best up-to-date colour services for our clients and load our Stylists with plenty of skills for the future. Plus they had a smashing time at Winter Wonderland.
Excuse us while we continue bragging about our Stylists. This year, Kennedy, Tia and Sarah passed their Level 3 Hairdressing qualification. Once again, we're beaming with pride. Being level 3 qualified means their skills are highly developed so they can take anything we throw at them: gents cut, child's cut, balayage and hair ups. You name it, they can do it.
For the first half of 2019, our salon owner (Nicky) took part in a pilot scheme. The mission was to get homeless people off of the street and into a barbering/hairdressing career. Nicky helped tutoring, along with Hair at the Academy and donated a lot of her spare time to the cause. It was incredibly rewarding to see how our independent salon could make a difference.
We've had a few fab new additions to our team this year. Our new part time Senior Stylist has been an absolute angel to work with. Two new apprentices joined us in October, Trinity and Evie have kept the salon running smoothly over our busy Christmas period. You've probably seen them darting around like Super Mario, offering cups of coffee and cleaning the salon.
Our apprentice, Abbie, is so close to graduating as a Stylist! She'll be graduating in the new year so keep your eyes peeled.

In September of this year, we hosted a Charity Week to raise money for Children's Hospice South West and the Little Princess Trust. Numerous clients had the chop and donated their hair to the Little Princess Trust, where their hair will be turned into wigs for children suffering with hair loss conditions. After a big raffle, cake sale and discounted haircuts, we raised £400!
We also took part in Wear It Pink for Breast Cancer Now and raised £100 with a bake sale and sweepstake. We have so much fun raising money for charity and it's something we're looking to do more of in 2020. Thanks to every client who took part and donated a little or a lot ❤️
In October, our shop front got a revamp. It was screaming for an upgrade, so we got sleek new white signs, compete with our illuminating logo. We also changed the format of our price lists to make them more modern and easier to read.
The brand new signage and lights has given us a fresh start - 2020 we're ready for you.
We've banged on about it non stop on social media, this December was the launch of our Blow Dry Club. We're so excited to try something new and to bring the Blow Dry Club to Exeter! We were able to spread the word on a couple local news outlets which was shamelessly very exciting for us. We had a two page spread in December's Exeter Living magazine. This year we retained our spot on the Top 3 best rated hairdressers in Exeter. Proud as always!
