2017 is well underway and with a new year, comes a new opportunity to revamp your look! We are excited to share these tips from our Exeter Hairdressers. Whether you want to go shorter or grow your hair longer, there are plenty of new hairstyles and colours to try.
Check out these top trends for the year and decide what new look you’re going to go for!
- Curls, curls and more curls
It may take a little longer to style, but curls have always been a great choice and 2017 is no different. Use a thickening spray or setting spray before curling to set the curls in place and then finish off with a strong hairspray to hold the style in place. - The Bob
The bob has been around for a long time too, but this year why not give it a try with a little modern update. By cutting the hair slightly shorter in the back and leaving it longer in the front, the hair will have more movement and give a softer texture to the face.
- Outrageous colours
Why not kick things up a notch this year and try a bright, new colour? In 2017, you’ll see all sorts of exciting colour trends from green to neon to ... get this, glow in the dark hair! Also hot this year, are contrasting colours where your roots or ends are a different colour than the rest of your hair. - Hair embellishments
This year, you don’t have to wait for a fancy occasion to dazzle up your hairstyle. Hair embellishments like jeweled hair clips will be very popular this year, but the bolder... the better. Try using multiple mis-matched clips all over or just one large, statement piece on the side of your head for a major impact. Check out these examples on Pinterest.
- The natural look
Perhaps the easiest look to achieve this year is the natural look. And not the “styled to look natural” look, but the actual natural look. Whether your hair is naturally straight or curly, allowing your hair to air dry without any drying or styling will keep you looking fresh and modern this year. And get you out the door a lot faster!
- The return of the ponytail
Always a favourite, the ponytail will be popular again this year. But instead of just throwing it back with a rubber band, why not add some more glamour with a delicate ribbon or combine the ponytail with jeweled clips or other accessories for a more finished look. - Cut some fringe (bangs)
A great way to change up your look this year is to add some bangs or fringe. There are many different options from long to super short, straight to side-swept. So make sure to consult with your stylist to find the best cut for your face shape. - Super straight hair
