By now, you have probably heard about the wonders of Kerasilk and how it can turn a head of frizzy, unmanageable hair into smooth and luxurious locks. But you may still be wondering, how exactly does it work and what can I expect if I get it done?

First, keratin treatments use keratin, silk proteins and glyoxylic acid to manage frizz and smooth hair. Your stylist will begin by shampooing your hair as usual and skipping the conditioner. Then, they will dry your hair to about 80% dry, before beginning to apply the treatment. Because even coverage is crucial, the treatment will be applied to your hair in small sections at a time. Once your whole head is covered, it will sit on your hair for 15 minutes.

Now, the part that may surprise you. There’s no rinsing out (yet) - the next step is to blow dry the product right into your hair. Then, your stylist will flat iron your hair completely, working in very small sections. After this complete, it’s time to rinse your hair and shampoo again to make sure all the product is removed. Then, a keratin sealing serum is applied and your hair is blow dried to style.
