If your hair has been feeling dull lately, if with every brush of your locks a chunk of precious hair breaks loose, if your straw-like strands are starting to attract crows; you may be suffering with a very serious case of damaged hair. For those of us that have bleached our hair, we know the struggle of wrestling with getting the perfect blonde and trying not to fry our locks off. But is there a product out there that can repair chemically damaged hair?
How do I know if my hair is dry and damaged?
- Split ends
Have a look at the ends of your hair. If the strands split off into 2 parts, you've got split ends. Resist the urge to pull them apart, it'll only cause more damage! Split ends can be caused by bleaching, heat, or even extreme weather, and are a sure sign of damaged hair.
- Thirsty hair
You know when it's the middle of the night and you wake up thirsty, but not regular thirsty; extreme thirsty? And you sleepwalk into the kitchen and down a litre of water. That is how thirsty damaged hair is. No matter how much conditioner and leave in treatments you try, your hair is dull and dry.
- Constant shedding
When you brush your hair, is your carpet filled with the fallen, broken strands? And when your in-laws come over, they say they didn't know you had a long-haired cat and you have to explain you don't, it is your own dead, discarded human hair. If your hair feels like it's breaking and falling out at every chance it gets, you've got damaged hair.
- Tangled texture
Run your fingers through your hair. If you've just brushed it and it still feels rough and tangled, you could have damaged hair. Equally, if you hair has been mimicking the texture of uncooked spaghetti, it's dry, damaged and requires some TLC
- General dullness
Nobody knows your hair better than you. If you know it's not got the shine or texture as it once did, you probably already know it's damaged.
